The Department of Law started its journey in the year 2003 with the mission to provide pragmatic and community responsive legal education with the spirit and the sense of justice. Within a short span of time, the Department achieved international recognition as one of the best law departments in Bangladesh.

The goal of the Department is to provide a theory based but practically focused learning environment that prepares the students to become skilled lawyers in a globally competitive world and to develop their ethical and professional responsibilities. The syllabuses of all the programs are duly recognized by relevant regulatory body (UGC) and professional regulatory body (Bangladesh Bar Council) and prepared with a view to enabling the students to meet their professional challenges at national and international level. All faculty members of the Department hold excellent academic background from home and abroad having practical professional knowledge and experience. Moreover, our students are taught and trained by learned members of the Bar and the Bench (lawyers and judges). Students are frequently assigned to visit the offices of GOs and NGOs including Courts and Police Stations under supervision of faculty members in order to gather practical legal knowledge. There is a Moot Court and a Moot Court Club facilitating the students to enhance their lawyering skills. The Department has a good rapport with relevant professionals and professional bodies and got first-rated recognition for the graduates in job placement and in enrollment as legal practitioners.
