Master in Development Studies
Program Requirement and Duration
MDS is a program of 39 credits. It consists of 12 courses each of 3 credits plus 3 credit thesis/ internship. The program is divided into four semesters, three semesters for course work and the last semester for research/ internship purpose. These course works are divided into three categories: foundation courses (3 courses: 9 credits), core courses (6 courses: 18 credits), elective courses for specialization (3 courses: 9 credits).
A typical student (with no course waiver and credit transfer) is expected to complete the program in 16 months (maximum four courses per semester and thesis /internship in the last semester, depending on the interests and ability of students and also availability of resources).
Course Waiver and Residency Requirement
30 credits including research/ internship is the residency requirement for MDS degree. Minimum CGPA of 3.0 or grade B is required for credit transfer or course waiver, subject to the approval of the departmental committee headed by the Chair, based on the documentary evidence on equivalence of courses completed elsewhere. A maximum of 09 credits can be waived.
Class Hours
The classes are held on the weekends and in the evening (6:00 to 9:00 pm) of the weekdays.
